Hello,
though the contributions are already years ago but I would like to report from my last Odyssey also times. My ENA Micro 9 was last also with the appropriate Jura dealer to the repair because of Error 8. The whole then was the purest Odyssey. The first repair attempt was 4 weeks. Afterwards the machine was back home for a short time ...worked for 3 days and then went back to the dealer. It took another 8 weeks until I had the machine again. The machine showed error 8 at both Error 8.
Sometime I had the machine again ...it worked partially ....but the brewing group ran sluggishly and screeched. I then decided not to move the machine anymore and was already thinking about buying a new one...but now I wanted to know:
The brewing group didn't stir anymore and the gear motor rattles at the gear of the brewing group. The reason was: Due to the cumbersome brewing group, a bracket on the geared motor ruptured: So the geared motor including bracket was reordered and replaced.
The brewing group was still not running. So BG disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. It actually went relatively well. But it still appeared ERROR 8.
I then ordered a new revised brew group at a reasonable price. Built-in but it still came to ERROR 8.
I exchanged the encoder for a cheap replacement model and still ERROR 8 came. Then I checked the cables for continuity from the encoder to the control board. But that was okay, too.
Because I had noticed that the encoder moved minimally in the holding clamp, I bent the clamp and fixed the encoder with small cable ties crosswise. I also used Teflon tape to keep the encoder on the geared motor better in the guide. It sits now wobble-free.
Furthermore I checked the circuit board of the power sprint (where all cables sit on it) with all plugs for continuity and with the circuit board I noticed that the continuity check of the solder joints was not clean with all. Probably corroded or something. She had a few years on her back. So all solder joints of the plugs on the back of the board soldered and measured again - now everything was ok.
In another forum I read that someone claimed that the polarity of the gear motor does not matter. Unfortunately, I hadn't remembered how he was hooked up either. Another forum, on the other hand, said that the BG's initialization drive always goes up first. With me it was briefly down, then up, down again, then up, down again, down again and stopped ...so ERROR 8.
The solution: Replace the plug of the gear motor (plug left to right, plug right to left) and behold....now it's running again.
I had two test coffees with the message "bean container empty" although it was full.... but the machine grinded anyway. Now the message doesn't come anymore. I have already tapped 20 coffees again. She's running. If the message bean container empty comes again, I will disassemble the grinder again.
Now I hope that the machine will run well for another few years.
