Die Rösterei Costa Rica Tarrazu Rio Jorco Estate

Manufacturer product description

Costa Rica has a volcanic soil that is well permeable to water and therefore rich in nutrients, making these'Terroir' excellent coffees. The uniform, almost bluish highland beans from Costa Rica's most traditional region are striking. The coffee farmers Luis and Jim Alfaro cultivate the varieties Caturra and Catuai, which are very classic coffee plants that produce coffee that is outstandingly typical of the volcanic soil. At the turn of the century, Luis and Jim's grandfather created a coffee farm of several hundred hectares from a small 20 hectare plantation at 1700m with a lot of heart and soul. Grandfather Jorge Zeledo has contributed significantly to the reputation of the region with his coffees and his two grandchildren pursue his strict commitment to quality and they belong to the best coffee farmers of the entire region. The name of the farm comes from the river Rio Jorco which flows in large parts through the plantation. The farm is Rainforrest certified, hand-picked and washed. The taste is slightly fruity with typical, tea-like fine spiciness and slightly nutty/chocolaty finish without being intrusive. It's almost the tea of Central America. Sensational and rated 85 / 100 points.
