Docklands Coffee Äthiopien Sidamo Grade 2

Manufacturer product description

The original home of coffee, where wild coffee trees still grow into forests today, is the source of excellent, unmistakable coffees. In the region `Kaffa` coffee (according to tradition already in the 9th century) was consumed by monks as a stimulant to stay awake during the nightly prayers. The mocha, which originated in the Yemen region, became world-famous at the time. Other coffees that are said to have an excellent taste are e.g. Yirgacheffe, Djimma or Harrar Longberry. The sometimes very clear differences in taste are probably also one reason why Ethiopia has a comparatively high own consumption of coffee. Today Ethiopia is the main exporter of washed Arabica beans of all African countries. Some 12 million Ethiopians live directly or indirectly from coffee cultivation. The coffee industry is under the (ECMC) Ethiopian Coffee Marketing Corporation, which controls a large part of the export market. However, some of the coffee is traded daily at auctions, which act as a hub between Ethiopia and the main export countries Germany, France, Japan, the USA and Saudi Arabia.
