Since 1870, Finca Ceylan y Anexos has been owned by the Echeverria family and has produced and processed various products. The previous name of the farm was Finca Ceylan y Colima. As further smaller farms were gradually bought up and incorporated, the name was changed to Ceylan & Anexos (meaning "affiliated"). The farm mainly employs local workers to support the local labour market. Originally bananas were planted as shade trees for coffee and today they have become another good source of income for the farm.
