Who does without caffeine does not have to do without an aromatic coffee. The Columbia decaffeinated has a velvety, soft character with full aroma. It tastes very harmonious and contains a small amount of fine acids. This decaffeinated coffee is 100% Arabica beans of Colombian origin. These are decaffeinated by an extraction agent that selectively absorbs the caffeine from the green coffee bean. First, however, the raw coffee beans are vaporized so that the cell structure of the bean becomes permeable to the crystalline caffeine. They are then added to the extractant. The extraction of caffeine is not a chemical process, but a physical process, i.e. nothing else is changed on the bean. If the extractant is saturated with caffeine, it is freed from the absorbed caffeine in a further process step. The extractant can then be reused. After the decaffeination process, the coffee is dried and packaged and can later be roasted normally by the roasting plants. The decaffeinating agents approved in the EU are dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, carbon dioxide and aqueous coffee extract from which the caffeine is removed with activated carbon.
