A great fullness and a full aroma characterize this coffee. His body is medium in strength. It has very little acidity and has an aromatic, full-bodied but soft character. Most of the cultivation areas of Java are located in the east of the island near the volcano Ijen. These are Jampit, Blawan, Kayumas and Pankur. The Dutch introduced the coffee plant in Java at the end of the 17th century. In 1877, however, almost the entire population was destroyed by a mould. In the following years, Robustas were imported from Africa to replace the susceptible Arabica plants. Even today, the share of Arabicas on Java is only a small proportion between 6 and 10%. Java WIB 1 is a washed Arabica. It comes mainly from the regions Jampit or Blawan and is cultivated at an altitude of 750 to 1700 m above sea level. Its beans are oval to roundish and of medium size.
