These beans come from the original home of coffee, the province of Kafa in Ethiopia. In one of the last cloud forests at 1,400 to 1,900m the wild coffee bushes grow as undergrowth of the high jungle trees. The Bonga Forest is home to some 5,000 wild varieties, some of which are up to eight metres high. Over the centuries, a unique genetic diversity has developed here that is difficult to conserve in seed banks. Through the long-term roasting process, the original coffee develops its unique character, strong, full aroma and a fine acidity.
