This Costa Rica coffee from Hacienda Pilas comes from the Naranjo region. The fertile volcanic soil and the altitude of 1000m to 1200m allow the coffee plants to thrive in the best conditions. It captivates with its spirited aroma, pronounced body and a very digestible acidity. In order to maintain this high quality in the future, the plantation is renovated every year according to a strict agricultural plan. This ensures a successful and high-quality harvest next year. The Gurdián family has a 100-year tradition of coffee cultivation, which also benefits the local population. Specially set standards mean, for example, that no chemicals are used for fertilization, no overexploitation of the rainforest and no child labour and exploitation of the labour force are tolerated. With the direct import, the Gurdián family gets the opportunity to pay fair wages to its 30 permanent employees and almost 400 harvest workers. Outside the plantation, charitable activities and the education of local school children are promoted.
